Finding material within the library can be done using the library catalog. Enter your search terms into the box to the right of the "Library Catalog" pull down menu. Keep your searches simple, use only a couple of keywords. Correct spelling is required.
The pull down menu offers additional options to help you narrow your search allowing you to search specifically by title, author or subject.
Use the advanced search to focus your search results. There are a variety of ways to filter your searches.
The top part of the advanced search screen allows you to modify your keyword searches.
You can select to "include all" or "include any" keywords. The "include all" is probably what you will use for most searches with multiple keywords. It will only find records that include each of the keywords you enter into the box. The "include any" might be useful when you are not getting many results and just want to quickly search a bunch of terms at once.
The "keyword anywhere" is the next pull down menu. It includes the same search options as the menu - allowing you to search book titles, authors and subjects.
There are search limiters below the box, but the most useful one is the "Limit by Collection" filter. You can use these options to limit searches to the thesis collection, DVDs (audio visual) and reserves.
You can narrow your searches from the search results screen. Options for refining your searches can be found on the blue side bar menu to the left of the results. There are several options to improve your results.
Below is a brief look at the most frequently used limiters.
Select "Montante Library" from the "Availability" options to search for books, dvds and other objects within the library. The "Online" filter will limit results to our ebook options.
The "Format" options allow you to limit your results to formats such as books, dvds, software and more.
The refine menu repeats some options from the search pull-down including limiters for "Author" and "Topics".
Use the "Publication Date" slider to select a date range for your results or just a specific year from the options below the slider.
